Intuition and the Clairs
What are your psychic senses and how can you strengthen them to connect with your intuition on a deeper level?
Well, once again, I try to make a commitment to myself and you, my readers, that I would supply a weekly newsletter…
I feel like sometimes the Universe has other plans in store…or it’s testing me! This has been a theme for me this year, to make plans and try to be consistent, only to have the Universe guide me on a different route. But if you think about it, this newsletter and my work here today wouldn’t have come to fruition as it did if things didn’t happen the way they did.
The other week, I fell under the weather due to the weather. I’m very sensitive to the drastic weather and temperature changes that happen here in Calgary, and even more so recently.
So, I ended up being under the weather at the same time I was experiencing a spiritual lesson. I went against my intuition and moved by bed to the East wall of my room when I initially, a week before, had the download of a strong “NO!”. Why didn’t I listen?
Because I took the suggestion of another and thought what could possibly happen? I could always move it back. Well, I sure found out what could happen!
I had the most extreme nosebleeds I’ve ever had in my life. Pouring blood that wouldn’t stop…with clots (sorry for the image that might create in your mind). I’m just being honest…
Then I had a choking fit on the fourth day of my bed being on that East wall. Something was going on energetically, and at one point, I thought I was facing death and couldn’t help but laugh if this was the way I was supposed to leave the world. No joke. I had to give myself the Heimlich maneuver, which helped, but then things got worse. I won’t go into the gory details, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience…
I thought it could be tied to the fact that I went against my intuition and had moved my bed. The energy just felt off and something wasn’t right. And then I asked a friend to come over while I was experiencing the choking feeling. She asked me if I thought it was spiritual. Hmmm…that’s interesting, I thought. I was surprised that came to her mind.
Then I talked to my mum about it that same night and she asked me the same question! OK, weird. I wasn’t the one to initiate the spiritual topic in both conversations, when usually I would be.
The next morning, I decided to look up my bedroom Feng Shui, which I usually do when I move into a new place, to make sure the direction my head was pointing towards was beneficial for me.
Good lord. My intuition was right. But of course it was! It was I who was wrong for questioning and testing my intuition.
Sure enough, the East direction, for me, represents “Six Killings” and “illness, death, and loss of wealth”. Oh, great…
That day I moved my bed back to the West wall. This was two weeks ago now and my nose hasn’t bled since. This whole experience was definitely a reminder to always listen to that inner voice and trust my intuition.
So, the topic of this week? Intuition.
Personally, I am super happy we are out of the month of April. It was such an intense energy with the eclipse and other cosmic transits and all the astrologists I follow had said it would be the most intense month of the year.
So, now it’s May! Yay! And I feel the energy is lighter, brighter, and more in flow. I won’t get into the astrological transits so much, but I feel that the energy themes this month are around abundance and coming into a natural flow with what you are building or creating in your life right now.
We might feel like focusing on how we are nurturing and taking care of our bodies through our physical activity, what we’re eating and drinking, and how we’re connecting with nature.
As we slow down and ground ourselves to Mother Nature, we can tap into our physical senses and connect with what’s around us. Our main physical senses are our sight, touch, taste, smell, and sound. We can become more aware of our senses, what we’re experiencing on a physical level, and our sensuality. This will help us better connect not only to ourselves and our intuition, but to Gaia as well.
Intuition
Back to the topic of intuition.
What is intuition?
Intuition is like our internal compass that guides us to knowledge or information without having to consciously learn it. This information comes from our higher mind or Higher Self, our soul, or from Spirit itself. And by Spirit, I mean our Higher Self and other spiritual beings, as we are all connected.
It is the part of us that assists in keeping us on our path in life, guides us to our purpose, and wants us to remember who we truly are. It communicates to us through our intuitive senses and can warn us, affirm things, and direct us to our highest potential. It can also teach us, inspire us to self-reflect, and strengthen our connection to other spiritual beings and things in the Universe.
“The only real valuable thing is intuition.” - Albert Einstein
Our physical senses are tied to our intuitive senses, our intuition. We are all psychic and intuitive in some way or another because we are all connected to Spirit.
There are higher dimensions of our main five physical senses and they are often referred to as the “clairs” or psychic senses. Clair in french means “clear”. So basically they are our clearer senses or higher senses.
Did you ever feel like you were going to get a phone call from someone only to have them call you a few minutes later?
Have you ever felt, seen, or known something was going to happen before it did?
Is your sense of smell or taste so powerful that you can pick up on scents and flavours that aren’t physically around?
Have you ever thought of someone and then they text you a moment later?
All of these experiences stem from your intuition and connection to Spirit. We all have access to these abilities. Some might be easily experienced and some may be underdeveloped or untapped. However, there are ways in which you can strenghthen these psychic senses and your connection to your intuition.
Clairvoyance
Clairvoyance translates to “clear seeing” and it is connected to your third eye, the mind’s eye. Beings who have strong clairvoyant abilities can see things before they happen, receive downloads in the form of images, symbols, colours, and scenes, and may experience psychic dreams.
They can also see energy. This can be the energy of auras, chakras, and other energy systems, or spiritual beings such as souls that have crossed over or dimensional beings from different places in the Universe.
For example, all of my life, I have seen static energy in the air. To me, it’s the veil that separates our reality with other realities in this Universe. I have seen through the veil a few times, when I’ve seen angels and fairies and wisps of energy that could be spirits. I can also see colours and energy moving when I do Reiki sessions.
This has been one of my strongest “clairs” or developed intuitive abilities. I have seen things before they happen, even people I am going to meet. I have also experienced dreams in which a scenario happens and then not too long after, in physical reality, the exact same situation happens.
One time, I had a friend who had a sick father and I asked them how they were sick and where. Before they could answer me, I had an image flash in my mind’s eye of black lungs, only to find out later that he had lung cancer.
People who daydream often, or manifest what they visualize quickly, have strong clairvoyant abilities. They usually recognize symbolism in their reality, such as numbers, animals, and even the subtle messages or symbols in human behaviour.
The ability to see things that happened in the past, are happening presently somewhere else, and will happen in the future (as a potential, of course), are also inherent in someone who is a strong clairvoyant.
So, how can you develop your clairvoyance?
You can visualize things in your mind’s eye. Whether that comes up as colours, people, shapes, situations, let it flow and don’t be attached to whatever you’re imagining. Let those images flow in and flow out, just observe the details.
You could also try to see the static energy in the air like I do. Loosely focus on the air in front of you, relaxing your eyes, and notice if you can see little vibrations. Remember, everything is energy, so everything vibrates, we just usually can’t see it if we’re not paying attention.
This works with reading auras as well. You can look at a human being, a pet, or a plant, and again, loosely focus on the energy around them. Look about an inch or so from their physical body and see if you can see a beautiful yellow or white glow hugging their body. Have fun with it!
Clairaudience
This translates to “clear hearing” and is connected to your sense of sound. Beings who can hear their inner voice or soul clearly, other spiritual beings, and receive auditory downloads of information have a strong clairaudient ability.
If your intuition is strong in this area, you’ll hear things as I did when I moved my bed, like a strong “NO”. You might even hear a light buzzing or ringing in your ear, which some people relate to tinnitus.
The hum of the Universe is the “Ohm” vibration. That is the sound of creation. This is what I believe a lot of people with “tinnitis” are actually hearing. I practice tapping into this sound, and a lot of the time I will receive auditory downloads from the Universe, my Higher Self, and other spiritual beings. Most of the time though, my auditory downloads come automatically without me having to consciously connect with the hum.
If this ability is developed, you might also be able to hear sounds from far away; maybe even what some people would call “impossible distances”. You also might be able to speak with souls who have crossed over because you can hear that subtle information.
Beings who channel their writing usually receive these messages through their hearing. As I do. The voice just flows down and into your consciousness to channel into writing. Those who are more visual, like clairvoyance, may channel through their artwork or drawings.
So, how can you develop your clairaudience?
Listen to your inner voice and Higher Self. What is it saying to you and are you listening to the guidance?
You could tap into the hum of the Universe and find that buzz that sounds like Ohm in the air. Turn off the music and listen to the silence or sounds that are in your environment. How far can you hear? What sounds are in the distance?
Clairsentience
This is a “clear feeling” that you can sense in your body. It is the most common psychic sense and is usually more developed in souls who have a high level of empathy. Do you ever walk into a room and feel the energy? Maybe someone just had a fight and you can literally feel the tension in the air. This is clairsentience.
When you can feel the energy around you, which we can all do consciously and subconsciously, and you’re aware of it, you can decode what it means to you. The more you pay attention to the energy of people, places, pets, situations, everything, the more you develop the ability of clear feeling.
Beings with a strong clairsentience ability can also feel things before they happen. Have you ever had a feeling something bad was going to happen and it turned out that feeling was right? That’s your intuition speaking to you!
One time, my high school boyfriend and I were invited to a party in a barn. We had gone to a party there a few weeks before and everything was fine, but this time I had a feeling something bad was going to happen and I asked him if we could stay home instead. Thankfully, he believed me and we didn’t go.
The next day, we found out a girl had been sexually assaulted and it turned into a huge investigation and issue in our town. I was so glad we didn’t go and get caught up in the situation, and that I trusted that feeling inside of me. And so did he.
So, how do you develop this sense?
The best way to strengthen this sense is to listen to your body. Pay attention when you get nerves or feel the need to stop something. Listen to your gut, as they say. Your body communicates with you in so many ways, and your sense of touch, even if it is more on a psychic or energetic level, can tell you many things.
You could write down your feelings about something and then read back and see which situations you were right about. The more you realize you’re right, the more you’ll trust those feelings in the first place.
Claircognizance
This sense is “clear knowing” and isn’t too much different than clairsentience, except that instead of a feeling, you just know. You might not know how you know but you are confident in certain information. This sense is more mental and in the mind than clairsentience, which is a physical feeling.
Most of the time, it can’t be explained because you don’t know how you know the information. But on some level, your soul and Higher Self has information and gives it to you. This information could also come from other spiritual beings if you communicate with them.
When I was nine years old, I entered my first regional horse show. I had a large class, over 25 horses, but I just knew I was going to win Top 5 in the class. When I told my mum this, she said something like, “Oh sweetie, this is your first regionals, don’t expect to win Top 5. Plus it’s a large class.” But I told her no. Because I just knew I was going to win it. And sure enough, my name was called for Top 5 and I left that arena with two ribbons around my horse’s neck and a plaque in hand.
So, how do you develop this sense?
I believe this sense is more developed based on your connection with your Higher Self, the Universe, and other spiritual beings. It is through your connection with the collective consciousness and your intuition that you receive the information you are meant to know automatically.
You can also practice trusting what first comes to mind. Most of us will have a thought and second-guess it, only to find out that we were correct in the first place. Learning to trust what comes to mind, and feeling confident in sharing it when it does, can strengthen this ability.
Clairalience
Weird word, but it translates to “clear smelling” and is connected to your sense of smell, of course. It is a less common psychic sense. Some beings are able to smell scents and aromas that aren’t physically in their environment. They can also smell things that are tied to past events or souls that have passed away.
For example, some beings who investigate murders, or people who have passed away, pick up on scents that were at the scene. Other souls can remember an experience in their mind and sense the aromas that were there, experiencing them in the present moment! It’s quite amazing.
People with a strong sense of smell can usually develop this psychic sense more easily. If you receive downloads of aromas during meditation or throughout your day, there is usually a message behind it. Beings with clairalience can recognize and decode these messages more quickly and accurately.
So, how do you stengthen this sense?
If you want to strengthen this sense, you can become more aware of the odors and aromas in your experiences. When you’re cooking, are you taking in the aromas? When you’re walking in a garden, do you notice the scents of the flowers? Just being more aware of the scents in your environment can strengthen this ability. When you do smell something out of the ordinary, be curious about it and spend some time finding a potential meaning from it.
Clairgustance
Clairgustance is “clear tasting” and corresponds to your sense of taste. It includes the ability to pick up on flavours easily, especially without them being physically present. It’s like your taste buds are stimulated psychically or energetically and can sense certain flavours without consuming them.
This can be experienced when someone is describing what something tastes like and it’s like you can actually taste it in that moment, without physically having it. You could also randomly taste something in your mouth and decode whatever message that gives you.
People who have a strong sense of physical taste tend to develop this ability more easily. These beings can usually pick up on subtle flavours and textures in foods, drinks, and other substances that they consume, such as cannabis or cigars.
So, how do you develop this sense?
To strenghten this psychic sense, you can pay more attention to the flavours in what you consume. Have you ever been to a wine tasting? The point is to pick up on the subtle flavours and hints of berries, herbs, and what not in the wine. Next time you eat a dish, consciously chew your food and see what flavours you can pick up on. Let them intensify.
Final Thoughts
We are all naturally attuned to these psychic or higher dimensional senses. Some are highly developed and others may not be experienced as often. However, we all have the ability to strengthen these senses and experience our intuition and connection to Spirit on a deeper level.
The more you listen and pay attention to what you see, hear, feel, know, taste, and smell, the stronger these abilities will get. You will build a stronger relationship with your intuition and Spirit. This will lead to more spiritual experiences, flow and rhythm in your life, and more purposeful action. You’ll start trusting yourself more often than not, which will also guide you to higher potentials and create magic in your life.
Everything is energy. We are just learning to tap into our unlimited potential of reading and using it!
