New Moon in Libra | Solar Eclipse
How this New Moon Eclipse could affect your values, relationships, and agreements!
What are eclipses?
They are points in time and space where the celestial bodies of the Earth, moon, and sun come into alignment. The word “eclipse” comes from the Greek word ekleipsis, meaning “abandoned”, “leave”, or “to disappear”. A solar eclipse is when the moon partially or fully covers the sun, making it “disappear” and creating a moment of darkness, with a cold and eerie feeling in the air. A lunar eclipse is when the Earth comes between the sun and a full moon, which turns the moon orange, red, or yellow in colour.
Eclipses represent chaos, change, and intensity. They bring about major transformations and are a good time to release what no longer serves you to make room for new and better things. Full Moon eclipse energy is about climax and conclusions, the ending of patterns or ways of being. New Moon eclipse energy is about new beginnings and sudden changes of direction. The energy of the eclipse is known as an “eclipse season”, and can linger in our lives for about six months after the physical occurrence.
In history, many civilizations would actually hide their King or ruler during these times because of the drastic changes that were anticipated. They would do their best to forecast an eclipse because they believed their ruler’s life or status depended on it. Therefore, eclipses can also be associated with changing of leadership.
What does this mean for us earthlings?
On Saturday, October 14th, 2023, we experienced a New Moon Eclipse in Libra at 21 degrees. It means we might have some shake-up in our relationships (both romantic and business), insights into our true values and self-worth, and things intensely coming into balance for the next six months or so.
Eclipses can create “themes” of energy, and the theme of this eclipse is around agreements, contracts, values, relationships, judgements, and justice. Why? Because Libra rules all of these things, as well as beauty, balance, and harmony.
We might find ourselves reevaluating what our relationships mean to us and whether they align with our values. There could be break-ups, divorces, and conflicting situations; however, there could also be engagements, conflict resolutions, and marriage in the stars!
We could also see some contracts or agreements, on a personal or global scale, ending or beginning, such as business or partnership deals and settlements coming to fruition. The number 21 is associated with “The World” card in tarot, meaning we could see a lot of changes and chaos happening on a global level…so be prepared!
This energy can be intense and airy (Libra is an Air sign), so make sure to keep yourself grounded and remember to breathe. Take some time to rest and relax as you’re processing the transformations in these areas and don’t try to force anything.
Normally, New Moons are times of setting new intentions, manifestation, and looking inside yourself to see where in yourself and your life you would like improvement. I wouldn’t say not to do this if you’re called to it (and you might naturally feel this way), but during a New Moon Eclipse, the energy can be so intense that you might not want to set new intentions just yet. If that’s the case, just notice the lessons you’re learning around this theme and accept the transformations that are happening…just “be” if you please.
Otherwise, it might help you to write down or communicate to trusted loved ones what you’re experiencing to bring you more clarity in what new things you do want to create with this energy.
If you want to know more about how this New Moon Eclipse might affect you, you can find where Libra is in your natal chart, 21 degrees Libra (if you have anything there), and what house Libra resides in. This will provide you with more information about what area in your life will be most affected by this eclipse energy.
Lots of Love & Light,
Jessica Rose.
