So, I've been keeping a little secret.
I'm almost a...
certified and registered yoga teacher!
Everything is Coming Full Circle
I’m very excited to share this part of my journey with you that has been an aspiration of mine for many, many years.
I have been practicing yoga on and off since I was 17-years-old. It has helped me with body pains, my scoliosis, and to calm my mind and bring my consciousness back into my being. Yoga has always been there for me when I feel the need to reconnect with Spirit or tune into myself. It is also one of my favourite ways to incorporate movement into my day.
At times when I didn’t feel the desire to get into a practice, I would pull out my mat and just do my favourite poses or simply stretch. My yoga mat throughout the years has been a sacred healing space for me. Even if I’m not as consistent with asana practice (poses) as I would like to be, I have always felt a strong connection to yoga on and off the mat.
Many times while on the mat, doing my own flow or meditation, I would receive messages and downloads from the Universe. It has become a solid way for me to connect with my inner self and strengthen my relationship with my spirituality.
“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.” - The Bhagavad Gita
This is why, for over four years, I have hummed and hawed over taking a yoga teacher training. In the past, I researched many schools, both in my current location at the time or somewhere abroad where I could experience travelling as well. I had even planned to go to Costa Rica this past winter to take my YTT 200 hours and learn yoga with horses! I somehow ended up in Colombia instead…at a surf camp, haha. To be fair, there was yoga involved…
Basically, for quite a few years I have wanted to pull the trigger and do my yoga teacher training but it never seemed to fit in with my schedule and I wasn’t drawn to a particular school of training. Until now…
I’m so happy to be able to say that I am currently taking my 200 hour yoga teacher training with YogaRenew and I’m almost half-way done the program! This is a dream come true for me and it was all possible because I found a Yoga Alliance certified online course that fits with my crazy schedule and where I can work at my own pace (which for those of you who know me well, know I love!).
I’m so grateful that the time and place I’m in at this moment in my life has guided me, and on the Lion’s Gate portal of 8/8/2024 I might add, to finally take the leap into something I have wanted to do for years.
“Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees.”
- B.K.S. Iyengar
Yoga, it’s not what you think.
To be honest, I feel like everything I have learned up until now has prepared me for this training. Learning the chakra system and subtle energy bodies, the fact that we’re electromagnetic beings and made of light, the connection between mind-body-soul, and so much more. Yoga will be a way for me to integrate what I have been studying over the past fourteen years and teach it in a way that resonates with my own spiritual path and belief system.
Like many of us, in the start of my practice I thought yoga was more about physical postures that you do on a mat to build a relationship with your body, or at the very least, a way to exercise. But it’s so much more than that, and through my own practice and having learned more about the philosophy and history of yoga, I realize now that I have been a yogi most of my life.
The word yoga means “to yoke” or “to unite”. Basically, it means to become “one” or in union with the divine. It is the practice of creating a state of pure consciousness and oneness with all that is, setting aside the ego or the “I” that we tend to attach ourselves to so that eventually we can attain samadhi or pure enlightenment and bliss.
As I’m sure you can figure out by the name of my holistic practice (Blooming Euphoria, in case you didn’t know) is all about growing your bliss and reaching your highest potential as a soul in this human experience. It is what I have devoted my life to learning about and applying in my own life. So, I guess it only makes sense that I was guided to finally jump on the yoga teacher training opportunity at this time when I feel the most confident in my practice and the path I’m on in my life.
People are drawn towards yoga for many reasons. Some love the vigorous and challenging “hot yoga” while others want to melt into the relaxation and stress release that a Hatha class can provide. Some people practice yoga to connect with their spirituality and grow on a personal level. Others want to increase their flexibility or benefit from the physical healing that a yoga class can bring. Some have many reasons why they practice yoga.
The benefits of yoga are holistic: for the mind, body, soul, emotions, and connection to Spirit. It stills the mind, keeps you in the present moment, and shines a light on self-awareness to bring you closer to the Source of your creation. It is through knowing thyself, having compassion for others, and honouring the divine that can liberate your soul.
What’s on the Horizon?
Now that I have taken this step in my own spiritual, personal, and practical growth, I’m looking forward to combining the healing benefits of Reiki and self-hypnosis into my yoga classes and teachings. As soon as I have completed the course, I will be offering yoga classes online both in group settings and one-on-one.
In the meantime, I hope that you will enjoy the addition of yoga philosophy, asanas, pranayama, and meditation, in my writing and my videos.
Namaste. 🙏✨
With Gratitude,
