Hello friends!
What a week of fiery and playful energy we’re moving into!
The Tarot reading from Sunday lines up with what’s shifting in the cosmos this week, and I’m bringing this purifying fire element into our yoga practice.
This week is all about cleansing, tending to your inner flame, and having the courage to act on your creativity and self-expression.
A Little Magick From My Life
After a big loss and transformation in our friend group, we needed a little time at the “resort” — my friend’s home (who also happens to be my landlady) where there’s a pool, a hot tub, a sauna, and a view overlooking Mount Baker and the ocean. It felt like we were enjoying a weekend away, without ever having to leave town. And I didn’t even have to leave my house.
We spent the night together on Friday, chit-chatting, drinking wine, looking at the stars, and pulling some Tarot cards. Then the fun rolled into Saturday when our fifth and final girl arrived. We soaked up the sun, played in the pool (and a slip n’ slide!), and cuddled up after a long day in the heat.
The love from this group of girls fills my heart and soul a thousand times over. If someone had told me I would meet the best group of friends in my thirties, I don’t know if I would’ve believed them, but that’s exactly what has happened since moving to the island. I found my people, my soul sisters, my chosen family, and I am so grateful for them every day.
Messages From The Mat
This week, we’re playing with fire!
With what’s going on in the cosmos, in addition to this week’s Tarot reading and the overall energy in the air, there is so much fire element to be tapped into.
So, this week on the mat, I’m bringing Kapalabhati breath (skull shining breath) into practice to stoke that inner flame. In addition to the Sun Salutations, this pranayama technique builds heat, lights up the core, and supports your Manipura (solar plexus) chakra — the energy center that holds your willpower, courage, and drive.
Expect short and powerful exhales, with easy and natural inhales.
Join me Monday night or Saturday morning on the mat and let’s tend to our inner flames together.
Tea & Tarot: This Week’s Reading
Yesterday, I pulled some cards for the week ahead and posted the recording. If you haven’t watched it yet, you can check it out here. If you’d rather read about it, here ya go!
This week’s spread is all about the spark of a new passion, venture, or work. It’s about play and purpose! What is lighting you up that you want to say yes to? Are you inspired to start a career in something that you’re passionate about?
The theme card was the Page of Wands: a new creative spark, messages about passion or purpose, and a soft yes to what you’ve been doing behind the scenes.
With The Wheel in the past position, it’s telling me that a new season is upon you. It’s time for a new chapter, and the wheels are turning in your favour. A cycle has completed, and a new door has opened for you. Did you step in? If not, there’s still time.
In the present position, I pulled the Ace of Wands. A big YES! Whatever you’ve been thinking about acting on is completely supported by this card. This is a sign to have the courage to follow what is lighting you up.
The future held the 5 of Cups and the Queen of Wands. The 5 of Cups is telling me that you might feel some sort of loss or grief around the old version of you that once was. As with any change in life, something is left behind to make room for the new. It’s okay to mourn the loss of something or someone and process those feelings. Don’t dwell too long though, because the Queen of Wands is a new version of you: confident, magnetic, charismatic, and a master of your creativity and craft! Your cups will be filled again, in a different way.
Something in you is ready to ignite. Tap into that creativity and trust the path that is lighting up for you.
Cosmic Connection
We are deep in Leo season, fresh out of the Lion’s Gate Portal (8/8), and with Mercury just strolling into Leo on the 9th, we are being invited to reclaim our power and live in our truth.
Leo is all about shining bright in our purpose, having fun and being playful, following our heart, and staying loyal to who we really are.
To add to the Leo energy, we also have a New Moon Total Solar Eclipse on August 12th, which will influence us for the next six months. This Eclipse is inviting you into a rebirth or reinvention of yourself.
Just as the Wheel showed in the Tarot reading, we are being asked to let go of a cycle or timeline that is outdated. This could be a belief about who we are, how we’ve been expressing ourselves, or an attachment to an old version of ourselves that we know deep down we have outgrown.
This Total Solar Eclipse is inviting us to rebirth and transform into who we are here to be for our soul’s purpose. Perhaps you have been feeling like there is something more for you in life, a different path, a different lifestyle, a call to another way of being. This is the time to set those intentions into motion and call in the change that you want.
It’s time to step into your main character energy, but with humility. Yes, we can shine and express our lovely selves; however, we should be doing it for the sake of humanity and something bigger. To be a light in our communities. We need to set aside any pride or arrogance and tap into the light side of Leo, delving into our gifts and talents to co-create our hopes and dreams for this world as a collective.
Grounded Goodness
Every transformation asks us to leave a part of us, our life, or our world behind.
This week, if it feels like something or someone is falling away, surrender to it. You’re only losing a piece of your old reality to make room for something more aligned to who you’re becoming. And as hard as that can feel, it’s usually a necessary shedding.
You will rise up from the ashes, like a phoenix, as a stronger, more powerful version of yourself.
A journal prompt you can sit with this week is this: What part of me is being called to release?
"Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it."
- Nelson Mandela
As much as I love this fiery, expansive energy, it’s hard not to think about the actual fires burning in Canada. My heart goes out to the people, the animals, and the nature that are being affected by these wild flames. And to the firefighters out there risking their lives to keep everything safe. You have immense courage. Thank you.
With love. ♥︎
