The Law of Attraction
Your thoughts and feelings are magnetic.
Ohhh, the famous Law of Attraction. I’m sure you’ve heard of it before! But what is the Law of Attraction really, and how can you use it as a magickal tool in your life?
The Law of Attraction works off of the Law of Vibration - that everything is energy and everything vibrates. All animate and inanimate objects are made up of matter, which is just tiny particles of energy that vibrate at a specific frequency. Nothing is actually solid, it’s just a matter of density. No pun intended.
Since everything is energy, everything has an electric charge to it. Anything that has an electric charge to it creates a magnetic field. So, everything in this world is electromagnetic, sending and receiving electrical signals and resonating through vibration.
Even your thoughts and feelings are electromagnetic. Your brain waves, which are your thoughts measured, have an electric charge and create a magnetic field. Your feelings, or your emotions, which are hormone messengers, also carry an electric charge and magnetic field.
The HeartMath Institute, an amazing organization, has done extensive research on brain and heart coherence and has found that your feelings are more powerful than your thoughts. Your heart communicates more often to your brain than vice versa and also has a larger electromagnetic field.1
We can use this information to our advantage and change our feelings with our thoughts. We can train our heart and brain to be in coherence, matching thought with feeling and intentionally sending out high-frequency emotions to attract those same feelings back to us.
When I was 12 years old, I was first introduced to the Law of Attraction and the power of manifestation. My Mum had just gotten a movie called, “The Secret”, relating to the book by Rhonda Byrne, and the three of us (my Mum, little sister, and I) sat down to watch it.
At the time, I was already very in tune with energy, being a visionary, sensitive, and empathic soul (I have a stellium in Aquarius and my Mercury is in Pisces for those of you who know astrology). The movie made a lot of sense to me and I completely believed in the magick of it. It is more than just “positive thinking”, it is being an intentional magnet.
When I started my studies in personal development and holistic healing at the age of 17, I realized how much the Law of Attraction is tied to our overall happiness. We are literally creating our happiness or unhappiness with our energy. It all starts with us!
The science and spirituality behind the Law of Attraction is what makes it so magickal. Yet, it is something we all have access to and are entangled with at all times. Imagination is an amazing thing, and through visualization and feeling high-frequency emotions in your heart, you can manifest anything.
Have you ever said that you wanted something very much and then somehow it appeared in your reality, without knowing how?
Have you ever thought of someone and they texted you a moment later telling you they had a “feeling” to reach out to you?
Have you ever said something aloud at the same time as someone else, wondering how you could both be thinking the same thought?
You attract experiences, things, people, places, and situations into your life based on the vibrational frequency of your thoughts, feelings, and actions…the energy of your being!
Every thought or feeling you have and everything you do has a certain frequency or energy to it. This frequency is sent out, like a radio wave, into the electromagnetic field we all live in. The frequency attracts things, people, places, and situations that resonate with it, bringing more of this energy back to you.
Like attracts like.
We are all interconnected in a quantum field, entangling the energy of our thoughts, feelings, and actions with everyone else in this universe. As Richard Gerber, M.D., states in his book Vibrational Medicine, “ In nature, this is known as the Law of Attraction, where atoms of similar structure or vibration are gathered together to vibrate in unison…”2
Don’t think of a purple elephant!
Did you just imagine a purple elephant? Don’t lie to yourself…
When you think about what you don’t want, you manifest exactly that. What you don’t want. The same goes for low emotions. When you feel anxiety or imagine the worst, you will attract an experience to affirm those thoughts and feelings!
Instead, replace those thoughts and feelings of what you don’t want with thoughts and feelings of what you do want. Yes, this takes practice, but catching those thoughts is a great self-awareness activity and the more you do it, the easier it becomes.
You create new neural pathways in your brain when you redirect your thoughts consciously; and it eventually becomes a habit, programmed into your unconscious.3 Plus, it’s fun to use your imagination to create what you want in your life!
What do you want?
The Law of Attraction will work either way. Whatever you think, feel, and do will attract the same energy back. So, why not use this Law to improve your life and create the things that bring you joy and happiness, attract loving people, and manifest your dream job?
The first step is knowing what you want to manifest. What do you want? How would it feel to have it right now in this moment? What emotions does it bring up? What does it look it? What would it sound like when you have it? What would people say to you about it?
Now that you have an idea or vision of what it is that you want, really feel the emotions of having it now. Just pretend it’s in your reality at this moment. How do you feel? Does it bring a smile to your face? Do you feel your body buzzing with excitement? What do you feel in your heart? You’ll likely feel appreciation, joy, and gratitude, which are the most powerful emotions to tap into when you’re manifesting.
Imagining these thoughts and feelings daily, while also taking action each day to invite the energy into your life, creates space and makes it happen. Jump on opportunities that present themselves and will bring you closer to your dreams. Do little things during your day that show the Universe you do want what you’re asking for. You could also use affirmations about what you want to draw them in faster.
Because we live in an entangled field, it’s important to focus on what you want to create and not worry about other people’s thoughts and feelings on the matter. As human beings, we are always influenced by our environments and the people around us. It’s the choices that we make for ourselves and how we respond to these things that we are in control of. Focus on what you can do and what you want to create.
Don’t worry about the “how”.
There’s no need to worry or stress about how the things you want will manifest in your life, that’s the job of the Universe. All you have to do is send out your intentions with the feeling of already having it (usually, with the high-frequency emotions I mentioned above), and trust that the Universe will bring that energy back to you.
You don’t have to worry about the how, but you also can’t just do nothing at all. Your actions speak volumes. Sending out positive thoughts and feelings to attract what you want is all well and good, but your actions will either align with those thoughts and feelings or they won’t. You’ll delay what you desire if you don’t take any action toward what you want or if your actions contradict what you want.
Personal Manifestation Stories.
Your thoughts and feelings are very powerful. I have a couple of personal stories (actually, many!) that can attest to almost instant manifestation. I’ll stick to sharing two here.
Just this past summer, I was texting my Aunt and she asked me how my life was going. I told her, “Ah, life is throwing me around a bit but it’s good!”.
The next day, I went down to the barn where I was boarding my horse and noticed there was a pony in the same paddock that shouldn’t have been there. I went in and checked on my horse, only to find a scrape on her rump and her leg was a bit swollen. Concerned, I decided I’d go get her halter and take her out to investigate further.
As I was walking along the fence, I noticed the pony was at the gate that I needed to use to get out of the paddock. Before I even had a chance to cluck or make a noise (I have been around horses for 22 years and know when to tell a horse I’m coming up behind him), this little pony started backing up faster than I could think!
He jumped diagonally, kicked me in the leg, and threw me in the air. I went through the metal fence (luckily, missing my head on the metal pole), and landed in the neighbouring paddock.
I realized later that day that my “life is throwing me around” comment manifested within 24 hours, as life had literally thrown me around. Be careful with your words, they are powerful!
Another story…
When I first moved to Calgary, I was living in a nice and newly developed area in the South. I decided to take my dog, Brandi, to the trail that borders the river so we could explore the area a bit. As I was driving there, I took a wrong turn and ended up in a nice neighbourhood. “What a beautiful area! I’d love to live here.”, I thought to myself, feeling a sense of joy in my heart. I continued to the river without thinking much about that wrong turn.
About two months later, my roommate gave me notice that he was buying a place and that I could either stay in the apartment and find a new roommate or I could move out as well. The place cost more than I wanted to spend at the time, so I decided to look elsewhere.
I found a cute little basement suite in what looked like a lovely neighbourhood, so I booked a viewing. As I was driving there, I realized it was the exact area I was in when I had the thought and feeling that day I took a wrong turn. I ended up moving in the next month.
Make Your Own Magick
And be careful what you wish for!
Make your own magick! Your life is your story, be the co-creator of it instead of letting it create you. Collaborate with the Universal powers that be so they can support you in writing the story that you want.
The Law of Attraction can work on an unconscious level, without you being aware of what you’re attracting, or it can be used with intention, like magick. Imagine and intentionally direct energy to your thoughts, giving them power. Vividly experience what you want in your imagination and then feel as if you already have it.
Tapping into those emotions of appreciation, joy, and gratitude will only draw what you want to you even faster. Hold those emotions in your heart as you imagine and believe you already have what you want.
Catch your negative and pessimistic thoughts daily and replace them with positive and optimistic thoughts. Use affirmations to remind yourself of what you want, sending the vibration of the words into the Universe.
Make sure you are manifesting what you want. Sometimes we might think we want something and then realize afterwards that it wasn’t a true intention. This can especially happen when you are overly emotional or you are acting from the ego and for selfish reasons. Check-in with your Higher Self before you dedicate your thoughts, feelings, and actions toward something.
The Law of Attraction is a powerful tool you can use to create a life you love. When you are aware of this, endless possibilities and potentials are waiting for you in the electromagnetic field I call the matrix. Believe in yourself and know your power. You are a magickal soul and you can attract what you want. It’s the Law.
