Present Moment
Weekly Wellness Newsletter
Well, here’s to Number One of the “Weekly Wellness Newsletter”!
It’s been a while (too long in my opinion - however, timing is everything right?) figuring out a structure for a weekly newsletter and what I’d like to share with you every week. I’ve settled on the following:
A quote that catches my attention or hits a chord that I feel like sharing with you. It could be about yoga, philosophy, healing, self-development, motivation, etc.
A question to ponder. It might be a question I’m asking myself or one that someone has recently asked me. It could relate to the natural theme of the newsletter or be totally random but still related to growing your bliss.
A self-care tip. This could be anything from DIY projects to simply remembering to smile. I’ve encountered so many wellness tips, healing techniques, and self-care tricks that I’d love to share with you. And I’m sure I’ll continue encountering many more.
Something insightful. This could be something that I have experienced during my week that I thought was profound and worth sharing, or something insightful that others have shared with me that I want to pass along to you.
A Spiritual Message. I’ve been feeling the need to connect with my Oracle and Tarot decks more and more, and so I thought why not pull a card for the week and share a spiritual message? Each week, I’ll pull one card and share my interpretation without straying too far from the meaning in the booklet. I’ll meditate on the card and see how the energy comes through for the collective consciousness.
Along with these weekly topics, I’ll share information about upcoming classes, sessions, podcast episodes, workshops, and any other news worth noting. This is an exciting new chapter for Blooming Euphoria and I’m feeling blessed to be connecting with all of you in this way. So, as always, thank you for your energy and support!
“Asana practice is a process for being present in the moment with an abiding sense of freedom and wholeness that brings about an experience of being fully alive, energized, and in bliss.” - Mark Stephens
Last week, I read this in my “Teaching Yoga” book by Mark Stephens. I think it was the word “bliss” that caught my attention because that is what Blooming Euphoria is all about: creating bliss in your life.
Asanas are the “seated poses” in yoga practice and are meant to prepare you for pranayama (controlled breathing) and meditation. They connect you to your body, mind, breath, and Spirit. By calming the mind, releasing emotions, strengthening the physical body, and awakening you to Spirit, they can bring you into the present moment and help you heal on a holistic level.
Question to ponder…
How do you practice being in the present moment throughout your day?
When we grow and evolve our souls, our frequency changes, and sometimes we lose friends or people we know that no longer resonate with this new version of ourselves that we’re creating. And that’s okay.
We can always ask ourselves what we’ve learned from that relationship or encounter. What did they reflect to us or show us about ourselves? I believe we’re always learning from other people as they in some way, shape, or form, reflect a part of us that we don’t necessarily want to see. When we sit in reflection about our experience with another, we can realize why they were in our life. Did they show up for a reason, a season, or a lifetime?
Turn off your social media notifications for a day and observe how often you habitually pick up your phone or head to your computer to check them. Being aware of how often you consciously check your notifications versus how often you unconsciously check them can provide some insight into your habits.
I have done this many times, testing myself, and I always catch myself clicking on my Instagram icon automatically - even when I’ve uninstalled it! Test failed. But not completely, because I do gain more self-awareness in how often I subconsciously check the app and this awareness grows into more conscious action.
For many years now, we seem to be glued to technology, always awaiting that instant gratification or satisfaction. This has taught us to need or crave stimulation all of the time; we lose our patience, can’t sit still, need to be doing a gazillion things at once, and then wonder why we experience labels like “ADD” and “ADHD”. It’s no wonder we all have a difficult time focusing! There are too many things to focus on, and most of it comes from our fingertips and a device we carry with us 24/7. Put the phone down. Or at least turn some notifications off so you’re not checking it all the time.
Be still. Live in the present moment. Maybe notice all the colours around you and how vibrant they are. What sounds can you hear in the distance? How do you feel in your body right now? How are you breathing? Are you breathing? (joking, but I think we all wonder sometimes if we were just breathing a few moments ago…).
When we’re not mentally stimulating ourselves, we can learn to quiet the mind, calm the nervous system, connect with our body and soul, and appreciate what we’re experiencing in the here and now.
Nightingale Spirit: Love is all around.
Nightingale Spirit reminds us that even in the darkest of times, the light will always shine again. It is through the darkness that we level-up in our self-awareness and personal growth. We learn the shadow parts of ourselves and confront feelings of emptiness. I feel like this can relate to the instant gratification or satisfaction when we look for something outside of us to fulfill us; to fill a “void” or a feeling of emptiness.
Nightingale Spirit shows us through it’s song that love is surrounding us all of the time - supporting us through our personal and spiritual growth - through our shadow work and enlightenment journey. In all the “empty” or dark space within you, in your life, the cosmos, and the universe, there is still always love to be found. Love is everywhere, just waiting to be noticed.
If you resonate with anything in the newsletter this week, I’d love to know your thoughts, answer your questions, or connect with your comments below.
Have a wonderful week beautiful souls!
Namaste.
With Gratitude,
